After joining on loan from Southampton, Dynel Simeu has had a successful start to his Tranmere career so far but is not getting ahead of himself and says that he just wants to keep learning and improving at Prenton Park.
“It’s been a good week, picking up two important results. I think it was huge for the team overall in terms of the away form but I just concentrated on what the gaffer wanted from me and what I needed to do. The fans were great and pushed us over the line to get the win and hopefully we can get more results like that.
“As well as wins, clean sheets breed confidence and show that we’re doing things right. It makes winning a lot easier because you know that you only have to score one to win the game if you can keep a clean sheet. Confidence is a funny thing because it can go as quickly as it can come and I think footballers play at their best when they’re confident which comes with good results.
“We all know what we can do, we all believe in ourselves and are taking one game at a time. I think it’s best that we focus on ourselves because when we’re at our best, we’re able to compete with anyone. It’s still early and the table doesn’t really mean anything and things can change quickly. Regardless of their form, we need to be up for it because they will be too.
“I’m getting more comfortable, I’m getting to know everyone and everyone has been very welcoming to me and helped me out in different areas so I’m grateful. Hopefully I can keep settling in and feel at home as soon as possible.
“Southampton have already been up to watch two games which is really helpful because I get their feedback too which is always important. I’m in contact with them a lot and they check if everything is going ok so that’s good. I think this is a great place to learn and earn my place in the team, I know it’s not just going to be handed to me. All I want to do is learn and improve.”
