Outstanding season for Stamford Tennis Club

Stamford Tennis Club have had an outstanding season with excellent results in the hard court leagues.

They entered 11 teams across two leagues ensuring different standards of tennis for members of the club.

The A teams have topped the divisions in the Hunts and Peterborough league in the men’s, captained by Alex Smith, the women’s and mixed, both captained by Lottie Butler.

The women’s B team, captained by Felicity Chedd, will be joining the A team in Division One next year after finishing second in Division Two.

In addition to the league, the Huntington and Peterborough Tennis Association organizes the Don Brace Cup competition which incorporates mixed, men’s and women’s doubles rubbers.

Stamford made it into the final with some convincing wins along the way.

The final was hosted by Peterborough City and, after a fiercely-fought match, Stamford narrowly lost 5-3.

The Peterborough and District League has four Stamford teams with two in Division One.

The A team, captained by Alex Smith, and the B team, led by Keven Tassel, have both secured their places in Division One for next year.

The C team, captained by James Beech, has finished mid-table in Division Two and the D team, captained by Vivienne Wilson, will remain in Division Four.
