Kent Cricket Board attains FCA Seal of Approval

The Club is pleased to report that the FCA has now issued its official Seal of Approval & Acknowledgment of Registration of a Rule Amendment under the Co-operative & Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 for Kent County Cricket Club Limited.


At the AGM on 25 April 2022, the following Resolution was approved by Members:

That subject to any amendments of minor consequence required by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Rule changes and Nominations Committee Terms of Reference approved by Members be incorporated into the Constitution and Rules of Kent County Cricket Club with immediate effect from the point of FCA registration.


Therefore, as of 15 August, the term of office of the members of the General Committee formally came to an end &, under the newly approved Club rules, Kent County Cricket Club Ltd. will move forward with the new Board structure. The first term of the 12 new Non-Executive Directors has now formally begun.

Members should note that FCA required a small number of amendments listed below, which were deemed by the General Committee to be of ‘minor consequence’ which have been incorporated into the new Rules.

  1. Two new paragraphs have been included (8.6 & 8.7)
  2. In rule three, the wording (pursuant to sections 5 to 7 of the Act) has been removed

These initial Non-Executive Director appointments will be reviewed by the Nominations Committee, led by Club Chair Simon Philip in early 2023 & subject to this review, these appointments will be individually re-ratified by Members at the 2023 AGM, which is provisionally scheduled for Tuesday 28 March 2023.

Club Chair, Simon Philip, has acknowledged the significant progress made in the governance of the Club; “I would like to extend my thanks to our Members for their support and patience as we have moved through the Rules revision and FCA registration.

“This was a lengthy but necessary process and the Club is now compliant with our ECB County Partnership Agreement, the Sport England Code guidelines and FCA regulations.

“The new Board leads will provide the executive team with the appropriate oversight and support and act as points of contact for Members. Together with our regular Member Forums and the Working Group to review Canterbury Cricket Week, we will continue to stay connected with our Members under the new governance structure.

“We look forward to now taking Kent Cricket forward; we have a busy end of the season ahead of us. Amongst our many priorities, we are working hard to secure our Division One status in the LV= Insurance County Championship and preparing to host England Women vs India Women on 21st September.

“Meanwhile, we have a Summer community cricket program to conclude before recommencing our work in schools across the county once the new term begins.”
