Jefferson’s softball team left no doubt that the championship trophy in its own invitational was staying at home.
The Bears outscored their opponents 48-6.
They beat Dearborn Heights Annapolis 17-0, Lincoln Park 16-1 and Belleville 15-5.
Emmi Liptwo swung a hot bat all day with two hits in the opener and three in each of the next two games.
Carly Grassley, Olivia Peare and Cam Carter had two hits each against Annapolis.
Burzlaff had a trio of hits and Carter, Julia Perry and Lindsey Gennoe added two apiece against Lincoln Park. One of Gennoe’s hits was a home run.
Rylee Dunn and Burzlaff notched two hits each against Belleville.
Jefferson finished the month of April with a 13-4 record.
Ida, SMCC split
Ida and St. Mary Catholic Central split a doubleheader Saturday with Ida taking a 10-3 win and SMCC prevailing 12-7.
Summer Smith was the key to Ida’s win, going 3-for-3 with 2 doubles, a home run, 3 runs and 2 RBI. McKenna Terry added two hits, including a double.
Smith also had two hits in the other game.
Camryn Carns had five hits on the day for SMCC. She was 3-for-5 and drove in three runs in the Kestrel win. Jenna Kapp, Emma Gessner and Faith Dean added two hits each in that game.
Bedford bats boom
RIVERVIEW – Bedford continued to make history during a 10-8 and 22-12 sweep of Riverview Saturday.
Payton Pudlowski homered and tied the school record for RBI in a season and Sydney Shammo stole six bases leaving her six shy of her own school record.
Shammo and Makayla Johnson had eight hits each, McKenna Dunlap went 6-for-10 with three home runs and 10 RBI, Aubrey Hensley had four hits and Sydney Delagrange chipped in a trio of hits.
Adrianna Kester got both wins to improve to 5-0 for the 16-4 Mules.
Collett lifts Monroe
CARLETON – Macy Collett went 3-for-3 with a double, a tripe and four RBI to lead Monroe to a 9-2 win over Genoa Saturday at the Airport Tournament.
Collett and Allie Hall each finished with four hits as the 2-9 Trojans also lost 10-0 to Woodhaven and 14-4 to New Boston Huron.
Ida wins invitational
ONSTED – Ida gave up just one goal in two games to win the Onsted Invitational Saturday.
The Blue Streaks beat Onsted 3-1 and Bronson 1-0.
Tinke Rambags recorded a goal and an assist and other goals came from Clare Allen and Rilee Weatherholt. Hayden Mannor had an assist and Onsted put in an own goal off her corner kick.
SMCC goes 2-1
St. Mary Catholic Central beat Wyandotte Roosevelt 2-0 and Blissfield 6-0 before falling 4-0 to Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard 4-0 to take second place in its own tournament Saturday.
Ava Kuehnlein had two goals for the Kestrels with Alex Wickenheiser, Sarah Netter, Emerson Bergmooser, Kelsey Beggs, Emma Zalski and Audrey Cousino adding single tallies. Kuehnlein, Beggs, Wickenheiser and Cailynne Flint were credited with assists for 6-6 SMCC.
Monroe beat Wyanodtte 2-0, tied Lenawee Christian 1-1 and lost 5-0 to Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard.
Mazei scores three
MILAN – Freshman Leah Mazei logged three goals and two assists to lead Milan to an 8-0 win over Dundee Friday.
Emma Budd scored two goals, Sylvia Koch had a goal and two assists, Lauryn Obey notched a goal and an assist and Isabel Fetterloff had a goal for Milan.
Milan wins quad
ADRIAN – Milan beat Ypsilanti Lincoln 7-1, Garden City 8-0 and the host team 8-0 to win the Adrian Quad Saturday.
Jules Meads, Abby Willis, Ally Jones, Kaitlyn Pfeiffer-Emily Linzell, Carli Barron-Ally Held, Gwen Jones-Ava Pustulka and Ella Warren-Sarah Monroe were all unbeaten for the 4-4-1 Big Reds.
Trojans, Jets rule singles
TRENTON – Monroe’s Nina Thomas won at No. 1 singles and Airport took the next three flights with Makayla Ridner, Allison Clegg and Hannah Roof at Saturday’s Trenton Quad.
Monroe also won No. 1 doubles with Mackenzie Mielke and Abella Hellenburg.
Belleville won the event with 10 points followed by Monroe with 8 and Airport with 6.
