Guillem Balague shares what Liverpool boss has told Arthur

Guillem Balague has shared that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has told Arthur Melo that he likes how the Juventus loanee ‘understands the system’ at the club and ‘the work you are putting in’, as he told BBC Radio Five Live Sport.

The European football expert added that Arthur is ‘taking that on board’, as he recently played for Liverpool U21s in the Papa John’s Trophy.

Arthur arrived on Merseyside on deadline day because he wasn’t someone the club was planning to sign from the start of the 2022 summer transfer window.

Throughout the summer, Klopp was insistent that another midfielder was not needed, only to change his mind as teams headed towards the final hurdle of concluding deals.

That didn’t help matters, for either the Reds or Arthur, who joined the club half-cooked and now he has to get back to speed, hence his appearance for the U21s.

Despite talk of possible worries about Arthur and whether he could head for the exit door just before he entered, Balague put all of that to bed and shared what Klopp had said to him.

“He is a player who has played for Barcelona and Juventus, try to do that. It’s not easy,” said Balague.

“He’s happy because he’s playing. There were all these stories, only a couple of weeks ago, that Liverpool wanted to get rid of him. Denied by everyone.

“I know Klopp has gone to Arthur and said ‘I like how you understand the system and I like the work that you are putting in, so keep working’. And he’s taking that on board.”

ARTHUR’S BIG CHANCE TO IMPRESS

This is a big chance for Arthur to turn this loan deal into a permanent one and make sure he is still a Liverpool player next season.

The Reds are crying out for more quality in the middle of the park, and their indifferent start to the new season is proof of that.

Therefore, Arthur can use this chance to impress fans, his new manager and teammates because that door is open.

And, so far, he seems to be doing that because he is grafting away during the international break, so he can be as ready as possible when Premier League football resumes
