Foot Locker predicts a drop in sales of up to 6% in 2022 due to inflation

Foot Locker mide la caida. The American chain of distribution of fashion and sports equipment closed 2021 with an interannual growth of 18.7%, up to 8,958 million dollars. Respecto al ejercicio 2019, el alza fue del 12,5%.

Para 2022, Foot Locker expects to reduce its sales between 4% and 6% due to the inflation shock and supply chain interruptions. In addition, the company estimates that its comparable sales will be reduced between 8% and 10% and that its investment in capital will increase by 275 million dollars.

In 2021, the profit of the American group was 892 million dollars, compared to 323 million dollars in 2020. Respecto a niveles prepandemia, la compañía aumento su beneficio un 79%.

Only in the fourth quarter, Foot Locker registered an interannual growth of 6.9%, up to 2,300 million dollars. Compared to 2019, the chain increased its turnover by 3.5%. The company has signaled that, in the period, “las ventas del negocio de moda han superado ampelo a las de calzado“. The profit of Foot Locker in the fourth quarter was 103 million dollars, compared to 123 million dollars in 2020 and 141 million dollars in 2019.

In the period, the group closed 76 stores and opened sixty, in addition to adding 38 Atmos points of sale to its distribution network, after the acquisition of the chain. The company also remodeled or relocated a total of 115 establishments in the fourth quarter of 2021. By 2022, Foot Locker predicts that its network will decrease by 3%.

El grupo estadounidense está en pleno proceso de diversificar su mix of vendors, with the intention of reducing its dependence on Nike, which currently covers 65% of its total offer.

In addition, the chain is also in the process of minimizing its costs to “save approximately two hundred million dollars per year” y reducir su presencia en centros comerciales, fortificiendo su red de distribución a pie de calle.

Last week, Foot Locker signed with Reebok to manage its distribution in the United States exclusively through its own stores and the online channel. The company also manages the exclusive distribution of some Puma lines.
