Concacaf League of Nations draw: USMNT wins El Salvador, Grenada

Three days after winning most of his assignment at the World Cup, the American men’s national team player learned something more about how he will prepare for Qatar. There are only two international windows before the November start of the World Cup, leaving places in the congested calendar for only six more international matches. The draw of the League of Nations Konkakaf on Monday night revealed two of those six opponents: El Salvador and Grenada, with whom the United States will meet in early June.

If the World Cup represents the biggest sports phase, then the League of Nations is the development and strengthening of the football base. Launched in 2019, the two-year three-level tournament represents Concacaf’s effort to address the toughest nature of the bodies of 41 nations, whose many smaller members did not have enough opportunities to play, improve and attract fans and revenue.
