FLINT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJRT) – For more than a decade, a Flint Township sports bar served up good food and conversation.
But, the business suffered a terrible loss last June, when a fire ripped through the building.
Now, they are back open.
Foutch’s Pub has been a popular meeting place for Genesee County area residents for years.
They just opened their doors Thursday night after completing some major renovations that took nearly a year.
Closed since June 30 of last year, Foutch’s Sports Bar in Flint Township is back in action.
The bar is a labor of love for owner Roger Foutch, who was devastated to find his business up in flames one day last summer.
“I got several phone calls saying it’s a major fire. And I got here and it was like unreal that this is happening at that time. It was hard to imagine that. You don’t want to go through that,” Foutch said.
With the help from his family, friends and other members of the community, Foutch didn’t hesitate to rebuild and make his sports bar even better.
From a new design of the bar, seating for more than 200, and a state of the art kitchen area for the cooks, these improvements are sure to help many.
Improvements not just for him, but for his employees and many customers that have been more like family since the bar opened in the fall of 2009.
“We have some of the most loyal customers that any business has ever owned. They come by. They gave money to my wait-staff. They gave money to my cooks. They stopped by. Anything that I can do. And then, they ‘re all back now, “added Foutch.
That loyalty was demonstrated by having almost all of his old staff return, as well as adding six new employees.
General Manager Lisa Montana has been at Foutch’s since the beginning.
“I’m so happy to be back. I feel like I’m back where I belong. I’m back home. So, this is where all my customers come to see me. I love working for Roger. He’s an amazing boss , “she said.
Foutch says he’s very proud of the new climate controlled kitchen area which can maintain a temperature around 70 degrees.
That will come in quite handy during the summer months to keep his employees cool, even while under pressure on a busy night.
